Godkiller Chapter Summary - 67 - The Tether Part 2 - Fuck
- Chapter begins on the late night of the the 67th of Spring, Annum 4466
- Everything was bad.
- Ger’zar bandits hot on The Street Dogs Tail.
- Cyrus unconscious at the wheel of The Evildoer
- A skimmer whose steering module was completely encased in hardened foam, and shields were near to breaking.
- Darkness all around. A night in which only the bandits could hide in as our heroes were still covered in glowing goop.
- Magnus and Sherman holding a tether between the two skimmers
- and a massive convoy of skimmers on the Horizon. The Ger’zar Kingmaker Caravan. Firing great beams of light at the chase.
- Yet the pressure only pushed our heroes to greater feats of skill. Mal taking the wheel of the Ibinyo, Go’igi hooking up his guttural machine to the Evildoer— sacrificing his own life force to maintain a track forward, and Deimos… the sole Street Dog with his hands free did more than just simply fight back.
- The unmistakable wash of power across the battlefield, the repelling of metal, and the euphoric connection to The Trinity itself, Deimos entered a Vizir Burn.
- But this wasn’t a gift freely gained. He had to bridge the gap with the thing residing inside of him. Deimos spoke its name aloud. Close enough for Mal to hear…
- Deimos flew above the skimmers, held aloft by his lifeline, raining arrows like some deadly creature of myth.
- Mal, consumed by alien terror could not bear to look at Deimos for fear of whatever it was that resided inside of him. While averting his eyes, Mal saw the oddest thing. Go’igi, spewing blood, flipping Mal the middle finger.
- Initially confused, Mal soon realized the message. In the distance a pass in the rock formation matched the vague shape of the once-bandit’s hand.
- Giving it everything they had, our heroes gunned for the pass. Just as it began to collapse from what seemed like a skimmer fight in the same locale just a day before.
- Like a row of furling fingers, the pass closed behind them. The sound of rock deafening.
- After putting a fair bit of distance behind them, and a Command Word from Sherman to Cyrus, they stopped the skimmers in a hidden alcove and began to take stock.
- Cyrus was still unconscious, but Go’igi had seen something when he connected to The Evildoer. Claiming he’d seen Mal on the other side.
- Mal’s plate was beginning to overflow, but that didn’t mean he got a break. Deimos had some explaining to do…
- Chapter ends on the extremely early morning of the the 68th of Spring, Annum 4466
